It's finally Patch Day. After weeks of experimentation on the Overwatch PTR, Blizzard's ready for primetime and that means all the changes we've been talking about are finally on live servers with Patch 1.5
While Sombra and the Arcade mode are going to get most of the press, here's five other changes that are important for you to know heading onto the servers today.
One Hero Limit has come to Quick Play
One Hero Limit being added to Quick Play was a very controversial move - one that's still generating discussion. So much so, that Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan had to make it clear that there was still incentive to play Quick Play's Arcade Mode cousin, 6v6 No Limits.
The importance of parity between Competitive Mode and Quick Play are very important, especially with Blizzard's plan to give players a clear path to going pro through the Overwatch League - and now they've taken the first step by making sure the casual and competitive modes of the game offer a similar experience.
Pharah Gets a Revamp
Not only can Pharah basically fly forever now, her damage has also been increased. While it came at the cost of some knockback, this is overall a great change - meaning you'll be able to rain down even more justice from above than ever before.
Rocket launcher minimum explosion damage increased by 13 percent
Rocket launcher minimum explosion knockback decreased to zero percent
Jump jets lift increased by 35 percent
Key Competitive Picks Have Been Nerfed
Both Zarya and Lucio were picked almost universally in professional and competitive play as mandatory picks. As such, they've both been hit with the nerf bat.
Lucio
Amp It Up ultimate healing per second decreased by 10 percent
Zarya
Power gained by particle barrier decreased by 20 percent
Power gained by projected barrier decreased by 20 percent
Ana's Nanoboost Is Slowing Down
Nanoboost had a huge effect on the competitive metagame - specifically, it made Reinhardt almost unstoppable, because it increased movement speed and made him a one-man wrecking crew. Blizzard wasn't happy with that and has removed the speed boost from Nanoboost - meaning she'll have more choices in who to hit with her ult, but also that it won't make tanks unstoppable.
That doesn't mean it still isn't powerful - you just might get hit by a boosted DPS character instead of Reinhardt.
Soldier 76 Gets a Much Needed Buff
Everyone's favorite Overwatch dad is getting a buff as well - one that makes him a bit more viable in the current metagame. All in all, his dps is increasing by about 15%, but his spread will also get a little more unwieldy. I hope you've been practicing your stutter shots. The following affects his normal fire, and his Tactical Visor ultimate:
Pulse rifle damage increased from 17 to 20
Pulse rifle maximum bullet spread increased from 2.2 to 2.4
